The Student Fee Review Board (SFRB) serves as the link between the university community and the NMSU Board of Regents (BoR) on issues regarding assessment, allocation, and usage of student fees.

Authority

Direct recommending body to the NMSU Chancellor in regards to Student Fees.

Each student who is appointed to the board via their position was elected by the population of students they represent.

What university function/office is responsible for appointments?

Membership includes the ASNMSU President (chair), the ASNMSU Vice-President, an ASNMSU Senator, a student-at-large appointed by the ASNMSU President, a Graduate Student Council representative, and representatives from the Division of Student Success, the Faculty Senate, and the Provost’s Office. The ASNMSU Advisor and the University Budget Director serve as ex-officio members.

What are the terms of appointment?

It is a one year appointment beginning with the first Student Fee Review Board meeting in the fall and ending at the last Student Fee Review Board meeting in the spring.

If any of these students are re-elected they would serve again.

What is the process for filling vacant positions?

Vacancies will be filled by the ASNMSU President for students and by the appropriate departments for all others.

The Division of Student Success, Executive Vice President and Provost’s Office, and Administration and Finance support this board.

What are the requirements for the number of meetings to be held annually?

During the Fall semester members receive an orientation to the previous SFRB’s decisions. Request packets are finalized around October and are distributed to potential requesting organizations/departments. In November, the Board meets to review “Fixed Fee” units. In February, the Board holds hearings with requesting groups and assembles a recommendation.
