In accordance with Chapter 5 of the Administrative Guidelines for Compensation Management for Exempt Staff, an Exempt Comp Review Committee (ECRC) was created to render decisions for appeals related to reclassification decisions. In accordance with Chapter 5 of the Guidelines, an Exempt Comp Review Committee (ECRC) was created to render decisions for appeals related to reclassification decisions. The ECRC is comprised of representatives of the following divisions: Admin and Finance; Dona Ana Community College; Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost; Office of the President; Office of Vice President for Research; and Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Also serving on the ECRC, as nonvoting members, will be an HR Services Representative and other NMSU functional experts, as appropriate. The current members (see attached list) have completed their two year term/commitment and it is time to select new committee members. We are requesting that you select one exempt level committee member and one exempt level alternate to represent your division/unit on the ECRC.
Decision-making
The committee is given the latitude to select a chair either for the duration of the appointment period (two years) or some other method. The first committee elected to rotate the chair responsibilities for each monthly meeting. Note: the meetings are only held if there are appeals submitted.

The divisions were selected to cover job families that have large numbers of exempt staff. As needed, functional experts are invited to the meeting as a resource to help navigate the various classification fields and duties.

The expectations for this committee are:
1. Two year term/commitment.
2. Attendance at an annual training – not to exceed 2-hours.
3. Monthly participating in ECRC meetings to review appeals. Number of meetings and length of meetings will vary depending on the number of appeals to be heard.
4. Review of appeals related to classifications decisions for exempt positions and will not include a review of decisions related to salaries.
5. Render a final decision on appeals based on information presented at monthly meetings.
A memorandum is sent to each of the senior leaders for the designated divisions. The memo is requesting the appointment of two representatives (6 committee members and 6 alternates).
