Purpose

Note: This purpose statement has been rewritten to reflect new priorities. This board will be transitioned to a new committee "Annual Academic Departmental Assessment (AADA) Committee"

As stated in the AADA Mission and Goals, the Annual Academic Departmental Assessment committee actively supports NMSU in increasing and documenting institutional effectiveness by encouraging, creating and sustaining an environment that focuses on the intentional and systematic improvement of student learning through program-level assessment.

Goals:
1. Plan, oversee and report on annual assessment of student learning;
2. Increase faculty awareness of the necessity for and benefits of course/program-level assessment;
3. Promote faculty development in program-level assessment and how it relates to course-level learning outcomes assessment;
4. Promote faculty engagement and involvement in the assessment process;
5. Increase student learning through wider application of course/program-level assessment;
6. Continually monitor progress and effectiveness of assessment practices.

Major Accomplishments

1) Developed reporting forms and instructions for a new assessment reporting system implemented in fall, 2018
2) Reviewed and provided feedback on annual academic departmental assessment reports
3) Selected the "Excellence in Assessment" award recipient: the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management
4) Contributed to revision of reporting forms for the fall, 2019 reporting deadline
5) Made recommendations to the Director of Assessment on guiding program-level assessment moving forward, specifically with regard to new assessment and reporting expectations
