Purpose:
The purpose of the Doña Ana County Head Start Advisory Committee is to lead and govern on behalf of the NMSU Board of Regents the oversight of the Doña Ana County Head Start and Early Head Start Program in the College of Health, Education & Social Transformation.
Authority:
Delegated authority to the Dean of the College of HEST per the Head Start Act 1301(2)(c)(2).
Chair: Henrietta Pichon, 6/30/2022. New Chair (new Dean) will be selected during July 28, 2022 committee meeting.
Process for selecting chair: The Chair of this committee is always the Dean of the College of HEST as appointed by the University Chancellor through Delegated Authority.

In the past fiscal year, what accomplishments have been made (if applicable)?
Accomplishments include:
-The official formation of the Doña Ana County Head Start Advisory Committee
-Budget and Application Development by the committee to secure $2.6 Million Dollars in annual funding for 2021-2022, $194K in Cares Act funding for upgrading classroom technology for the program, $311K for incentivizing Doña Ana County Head Start and Early Head Start employees on a quarterly basis, $78K in CRSAA funding for upgrading technology for staff and providing professional development training to staff; and $189K in Children and Adult Care Food Programs funding to feed the Head Start and Early Head Start Children who receive program services while attending center-based classes throughout the academic year.
