Purpose:

The Associated Students of New Mexico State University is committed to serving the student body of NMSU. We endeavor to enhance the college experience by providing valuable programs, events, and services to the students of New Mexico State University. As a governing body, it is our duty to use decorum in all situations involving our constituents and the image of the university community.

ASNMSU serves as an advisory body to the Board of Regents through the ASNMSU President

Incoming Chair / Term Begins (if applicable):  Vice Chair currently vacant; thus, incoming chair to be decided. January 1 - December 31, 2023.

How are the chair and members appointed? Elected and appointed

Are members subject to a term appointment (three years or less)? Yes

What university function/office is responsible for future appointments? Department of Chief Elections in ASNMSU 

What university office/function provides administrative support to this board or committee? SLIP, student fees

How often will this board or committee meet? Legislative Body meetings happen once a week during the school year. Executive meetings happen frequently usually more than once a week. Judicial branch meetings are subject to cases bing filed in the court.

Are there any requirements for the number of meetings to be held? Yes

In the past fiscal year, what accomplishments have been made (if applicable)?  

Appropriated over $800,000 back to the student body. Held well over 40 events that reached over 8,000 students. Brought back over $550,000 to the university from the state legislature in capital outlay. Increased voting in student government elections by nearly 100% Significantly increased usage of services provided by ASNMSU.
