Purpose:

The purpose of the Agriculture Modernization Advisory Council (AMAC) is to position NMSU’s Agriculture/Food Systems to be highly competitive in the future in the context of the nexus of Agriculture, Health Sciences, Water, Energy and Data Analytics.

Process for selecting chair: No Chair; membership is reflective of a diverse group of Agriculture related fields: chile, pecans, cattle, ranching, ag banking, ag industry leaders. Open nominations.

What university office/function provides administrative support to this board or committee? For launch during the 2022-2022 year the Chancellor's office; moving forward the Dean's office 

How often will this board or committee meet? As needed. No more than quarterly.

Are there any requirements for the number of meetings to be held? No

In the past fiscal year, what accomplishments have been made (if applicable)?  The major role for this advisory group was the support in the official opening and groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new Ag Buildings which occurred on August 19, 2021. The group met twice for the purpose of Dean Flores to hear their ideas of what the future looks like for the Agriculture industry. They were also briefed on the the bond election, funding sources and construction timelines. This group was identified as possible donors to the effort. The foundation took the lead on this effort.
