Purpose:

The Associate Deans Academic Council identifies potential improvements in academic policies and processes; discusses with affected parties and make recommendations to the Senior Vice President and Provost, the Academic Deans Council, or other decision-making authorities; and provide a mechanism to disseminate information, and address academic matters of concern to the colleges and NMSU system.

Authority: 

The Associate Deans Academic Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Academic Deans Council, the Provost, and other University Officials, regarding academic matters. ADAC proposes policy affecting academic processes (e.g., scheduling priorities and registration processes). ADAC has final approval of changes to the system regulations section of the NMSU Catalogs. The Undergraduate Curriculum Committee is a subset of ADAC that has final approval of new courses and course modifications.

Major Accomplishments:

Managed revisions to Academic (Course) Schedule in response to COVID for Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 semesters, including a post-registration Fall schedule rebuild and communication plan.

Oversaw task force addressing hands-on learning (under COVID).

Identified priority classrooms for Simulcast technology.

Advised Digital Learning Office on faculty training for online learning.

NMSU Catalog system regulation updates.

Coordinated training in new Coursleaf CIM, CLSS and PIM systems for curriculum and program management.

Advised on approval process for academic schedule modifications.

Revised process for cancelling classes and contacting affected students.

Coordinatied with Academic Affairs on alignment of reporting related to accreditation with department annual performance review; student concerns management; documenting faculty credentials; catalog language on licensure programs; Provost syllabus webpage; faculty development.

Coordinated with CAASS on prerequisite errors, revised catalog language on second-degree seeking students; various aspects of enrollment management (late course additions, calling campaigns, etc.).

Coordination with faculty senate on student course survey questions related to COVID impacts.
